Hethersett Academy’s First Cohort of Music Scholars Showcase Spectacular Talents
BackOn the evening of Monday 19th June, Hethersett Academy’s first cohort of Music Scholars took to the stage to showcase their talents and to present their progress since their first concert in January.
Among the Year 7 cohort were singers and musicians of the piano, trumpet, flute, drums, violin, cello and clarinet. The audience was given a taste of what each of the students have learnt individually, presenting a short piece of music, as well getting the chance to see the students perform as groups, with choir and recorder performances and a song by the schools’ rock band.
One audience member said:
“They are all so talented, but it’s their comradery that is the most enjoyable to watch.”
The generous music scholarship, which is supported by Trinity College London, is offered to students joining Hethersett Academy in Year 7 who show musical promise. The first Year 7 cohort was selected by Hethersett Academy’s Head of Music, Tom Hilton and the Trust’s Director of Music, John Stephens, following an audition process.
The Inspiration Trust places a high value on music education and understands that musical opportunities are not always easy to find, so aims to create them for its students.

They must also work hard at improving their musical skills by following the instructions of their teachers and practising between lessons.

We are delighted that the hard work of students and staff is paying off and as such we are able to present what can only be described as a showcase of the highest level. Well done to all."
Assistant Principal of Ethos and Enrichment and Head of Music, Tom Hilton said:
“We’re delighted to be able to present this opportunity for our first ever cohort of Year 7 Music Scholars to showcase the progress that they’re making through our generously funded provision for the parents and for the wider Trust community to show the benefits of the scheme that we offer.”
Inspiration Trust’s Director of Music, John Stephens said:
“Our first batch of scholars at Hethersett Academy have made us very proud this evening. The cohort consists of students who were more or less beginners when they joined us in September, through to those who were Grade 5 or 6 when they joined us in September, but to see them all travelling that journey of progression together is very exciting. Well done all."
