Hethersett Academy Showcases Students’ Creative Talents in Annual Exhibition
BackOn Saturday 15th July, Hethersett Academy hosted their annual art exhibition in their theatre, showcasing the superb creativity and talent of the school’s students.
The exhibition featured a selection of works from Year 11 students, to round up their final year in secondary education, and included a broad range of subject matter and mediums from embroidery, sculpture, photography, painting, and collage. The artwork throughout the exhibition showed a high-level of creative maturity, with the attendees expressing their admiration for the talent and skill of the young artists.
Jane Diver, Principal of Hethersett Academy said:
“The standard of the students work has increased during their time with us at Hethersett Academy, and the quality of the work today is exceptional. The number of students going on to study art at A-Level is also rising which is fantastic. I’m really proud of them.”
Helen Coote, Head of Art and Photography, who curated the exhibition said:
“I am so incredibly proud of our Year 11 Art and Photography students and the work they have produced throughout the GCSE. I hope that the exhibition really showcases the diversity of our students; demonstrating how they have created such personal, meaningful and imaginative work, with all pieces being entirely unique.
It is testament to our students that all visitors, students and staff who attended our exhibition are blown away by the professional standard of the work. It is a pleasure to witness how the work displayed continues to inspire our younger students, igniting their own creative aspirations and interests. Therefore, I would like to thank and congratulate our class of 2023 on their hard work and achievements.”
Leearna Rodgers, Teacher of Art and Photography said:
“This is our first year of teaching Photography at GCSE and our students have really done amazing things. We’ve used a mixture of digital and darkroom processes throughout the year, and the outcomes the students have produced are a digital book and their exam pieces, which we are showcasing as part of the exhibition today, which we’re really thrilled with.”
