Hethersett Year 8 & 9 Girls Crowned Champions at County 7s Tournament

In a thrilling display of skill and determination, the Hethersett Year 8 & 9 girls rugby team clinched the county 7s tournament. Another exciting success after winning the 15-a-side trophy earlier in the year.

The tournament kicked off with Hethersett securing solid victories over Reepham and North Walsham and progressed with intense encounters.

Team member Esther showed her tenacity by scoring the winning try in the last play of the game against Wymondham College, but a loss in the final minutes to Aylsham meant the final match against Springwood would decide the league with both teams needing a win.

Hethersett edged into the lead with player Gabby utilising her agility to score a try, but Springwood hit back and converted to make the score 5-7. Esther managed to turn it all around and put Hethersett back in the lead, and despite a nervous final two minutes, they claimed an outstanding victory.

Tries were scored by team members Esther, Gabby, Paula, and Poppy, but magnificent contributions made by all players led them to the top of the leaderboard. Receiving the cup from Langley School Headmaster Simon Cooke, the Hethersett girls celebrated a well-deserved victory, marking a memorable chapter in their sporting journey.

We are so proud of the achievements of the Year 8 & 9 girls securing the double and winning both the county 7s tournament and the 15-a-side trophy. All of our students displayed our Hethersett values of working hard, being kind, taking pride and embracing opportunities.
